Hey, guess what? A chiropodist and a podiatrist are practically identical! It's such a common question we hear every single day, and we love giving a new answer each time!

The most common explanation is that a Chiropodist is an old-fashioned term that often refers to practitioners that scrape off your hard skin and cut toenails.

A podiatrist is a degree-qualified practitioner who has gone to university to study the foot for three years straight. A podiatrist has a larger toolbox of skills such as diabetic wound management, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, physio, strapping, dry needling, acupuncture, rehabilitation, strengthening exercises, gait analysis, insoles, orthotics, footwear advice, and much more. If it is foot-related, we are a great source of information, and if we are not the right people to help, we will always direct you onwards to the correct professional.

Being a podiatrist also requires us to constantly keep up our standards to allow us to be registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). This means that each year we plan to get better and better!

If you have foot problems and need a 'chiropodist near me', get in touch. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide home visit services. Still, our clinic is conveniently located on Gosforth High Street and is easily accessible on the first floor with a lift which is wheelchair friendly.
