Your Appointment
During your first appointment (and annually) we will carry out a full assessment of your feet. This includes feeling for the blood vessles in your feet and also checking that you still have the sensations to protect you from sharp objects in your shoes. A full health history is usually required by any qualified podiatrist so it will be very helpful if you have a list of your medications prior to treatment.
Following the assessment you will be advised of what you can do to help prevent further problems with your feet and how you can look after them yourself at home.
Depending on what is required all of your foot care needs will be treated such as cutting of nails, removal of hard skin/callus, checking for ingrown toe nails, verrucae removal, wound redressing and more.
If you do not require any foot care but would like to speak to a podiatrist to have an updated 'Diabetic Annual Review' this is a service we can provide, although this is available via the NHS you can avoid waiting times by choosing Newcastle Podiatry.
